I have been trying to track down some website software that I need, and it's similar to what a lot of fanfic sites use. I went to some off a sig link from someone on the Leaky Lounge and got all engrossed n'stuff.

The draco stuff was WRONG. As was the weird emo Ginny stuff.

This is one of my faves, has three sequels to it that are even better, by a dirty bitch called Fervesco who agrees with me that Snape, Sirius and Lupin are the hottest man meat in HP, who needs boys? I've only seen the first two movies Cara, I'm half way through the third book and won't watch the movies until I've read the books. I know he is the same age as Snape and Sirius but my mind has created him as really old. Probably because he's been sick a fair bit and always looks like death with his shabby robes.

I picture a skinny guy with sunken eyes and grey greasy hair, I guess I'm wrong!

Good call on not watching the movies. I didn't start reading them until OOTP was out, and had seen (I think) the first 3 movies. I was actually going to skip the first 3 books and start with GOF but my workmates all screamed NOOOOOOOOO at me

Oh it's great Cara. I had no interest in HP, books or movies until Miss Granger herself gave me the box set on long term loan.

I'm really enjoying the series, it's great to read the book and then have the movie to watch straight away.

Speaking of books, I brought twilight on Friday and have just finished the second book. Brought the 3rd today but they didn't have the 4th!!!! The question is, should I see the movie or will it ruin it for me?

Nahh you only need to have read Twilight to see the movie, it makes more sense if you have read the book.

GLRR if you like Twilight you would enjoy the Sookie Stackhouse ones by Charlaine Harris, the new tv series in the US called True Blood is based on the books. I have read the first one and it is similar to Twilight but more well written (lol) and there is action much more satisfying than Twilight in that dept! I just got the box set today from Book Depository and am about to jump in bed with book #2

As far as internet porno goes that was really well done, but as far as fan fic goes, my personal preference is more towards 'in character' stuff - that was more just using the characters' names and the only one remotely in character was Snape.

The stuff I enjoy more is 'fill in the gaps' (pardon the pun ) fan fic, the 'day after' stuff, gaps in between books, what really happened when Hermoine went on holidays not speaking to Ron and returned content (Krum?) etc. I've read other R-rated stuff that stays in character better (written some too LOL) which I enjoy a bit more.

One of the reasons I started exploring fan fic after I found out about it was an argument I had with someone on the Leaky Lounge, during one of those 'the day after...' threads, where I had suggested careers for a few characters after the war, and some pre teen snot tore strips off me because she'd read in an interview that Rowling had already said what they did the next year. I am of the (apparently unpopular ) opinion that an author 'owns' the characters within the scope of published works, and everything outside of that should be left up to the reader's imagination, for better or worse. That's part of the great pull books have over movies. So I was a bit resentful that an author could give away such details in an interview that isn't seen by many readers. It's like finding out Harper Lee said, 'oh no, Atticus Finch became an alcoholic and killed his entire family'. It's just not right.
